The Westerville Public Library was recently named as one of the 2014 Best Employers in Ohio by the Ohio SHRM State Council and Best Companies Group. Forty businesses were named for 2014 and the Westerville Public Library was ranked as #16 in the Small/Medium Employer Category. This was the first year that the library has participated in the ranking.
This statewide survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Ohio, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. This is the ninth annual ranking.
To be considered for participation, a company was required to be a for-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity; be a publicly or privately held business; have a facility in the state of Ohio; employ 15 individuals working in Ohio; and be operating asa business a minimum of one year.
The two-part process called for the library to provide information regarding workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics and then asked each employee to complete a brief online survey that measured employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking which will be announced in May. The survey was completed by 86% of library staff, including full-time and part-time workers. The library has 112 employees.
