Technology Center
PCs (Microsoft Windows machines)
In order to use a computer in the Technology Center, patrons can place their name on a waitlist. The sign-up station is located at the entrance to the Technology Center. Please be aware that the system gives a time approximation for the next available computer; computers may become available much sooner than the estimated time frame. Waiting patrons will have 5 minutes to log on to an assigned computer once it becomes available.
Patrons can also reserve one of 24 available PC computers for a specific day and time. Reservations will be held for 15 minutes from the original reservation start time.
There is a 1-hour limit for PCs when others are waiting.
Software & Hardware
- Microsoft Windows XP
- Microsoft Office 2007, which includes Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, and PowerPoint, InfoPath
- OverDrive Media Console, Adobe Digital Editions and MobiPocket Reader (This software can be used to download and transfer Ohio eBook Project content to supported devices)
- Windows Media Player (This software can be used to watch DVDs from our movie collection.)
- Internet Explorer 8.0 and Firefox 2.0
- Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0
- CD-RW/DVD drive
- USB drive slots
- Floppy drive (available for checkout)
- select PCs have a All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier (Please see a library staff member to reserve a Scanner PC.)
- All computers have Internet access capabilities.
Printing
- All computers are connected to a color printer.
- In order to print in color or black and white, patrons must add money to their library card using our Add Money machine or by seeing a library staff member.
- Patrons interested in using photo paper or special grade paper must reserve a PC with an attached All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier. Please see a library staff member for details.
- Printing costs $.10 per page for black and white, $.25 per page for color.
All workstations will be logged off ten minutes before closing.
iMacs (Apple machines)
Attention: Beginning January 13, 2010, files will be erased and can no longer be stored on library Mac computers. Any current files or media projects will be erased. Any future files or media projects saved to the Macs will be erased after you log off. In order to save your work, you will need to use an alternative means of data storage. Please contact us for more information.
Patrons can reserve one of 3 available iMac (Apple) computers for a specific day and time. There is a 3-hour limit for iMacs when others are waiting. Reservations will be held for 15 minutes from the original reservation start time. All workstations will be logged off ten minutes before closing.
The iMac computers can be used for various video editing or digital imaging projects.

Other Information
- When reserving an iMac, make sure to select whether or not instruction is needed. Basic instruction will be provided as time and knowledge permit.
- Patrons can make arrangements with Technology Center staff to save large projects to an external hard drive for later retrieval.
