Mary Lightbody

Board of Trustees: Member

Committees: Technology, Representative for Westerville Library Foundation

Mary Lightbody was appointed to the Board in January 2014.

She moved to Westerville from Massachusetts 25 years ago with her husband (the late Rick Noss) and three children, and found a perfect place to put down roots in the Westerville School district on the east side of the Hoover Reservoir. In no time at all she settled into a happy hybrid existence: middle school science teacher by day and slave on evenings and weekends to their small farm with its two Connemara horses.

An avid patron of public libraries from the age of 2 when she went to the library every week to return and check out 10 books, along with her six siblings on the same errand, Mary brings to the board extensive knowledge of teaching and educational research (she has a doctorate in science education) and a love of learning. She has experience teaching in the Columbus, Hilliard, and Westerville schools, and at both Otterbein (briefly) and The Ohio State University at Newark (currently).
