According to Jessica Curtis (SearchOhio Coordinator & Librarian), “I scanned each person to capture their likeness with an app called Scaniverse. I then uploaded the 3D file to Tinkercad and added details like wings, hats, ears, etc. From there, I sent them into production on our 3D printers. Once done, I spray painted each one a different color and added a granite stone texture spray.”
The busts will be on display during the Wizards & Wands Festival this October, along with other 3D-printed artifacts such as fantasy-inspired coins, dragon footprints made with a Cricut machine, and a flickering candle screensaver displayed on computer kiosks throughout the building.
“Most of the time, when helping patrons, unless they share something with me, it kind of goes off into the world and then I may not know – you know unless I luck out and I’m like oh, here’s the high school play poster that we’d been printing out that happens to be in downtown somewhere. It’s fun being able to see the end result of it and being excited to see it be a part of the world building that day,” says Reyes.
