Plant Cutting Library
Take a plant, leave a plant - for free! Located near the computer lab on the second floor. While supplies last.
To propagate a plant for sharing with others:
- Clean scissors or shears with sanitizer wipes.
- Choose a thick, healthy stem.
- Cut the stem just below a leaf node.
- Strip the lower leaves of the stem, leaving a few at the top.
- Dip the end of the stem in rooting hormone.
- Place the cutting in a glass of water.
When you get home:
- Put your new plant in a glass of water.
- Place in a warm and bright location, out of direct sunlight.
- Keep the water above the cut line or growing roots. Change the water once every 1-2 weeks.
- Check regularly for signs of growth.
- Once the roots are strong, transplant into a pot of moist potting mix, sand, perlite, or vermiculite.
- Keep moist but watch for rotting.
- Enjoy!
